IN OFFICE PROCEDURES

In Office Procedures are generally minor procedures done in the office either without anesthesia or under local anesthesia. These typically include evaluation and treatment of abnormal pap smears.

  • Colposcopy: A procedure to closely inspect the cervix, vagina or vulva for signs of disease or as follow up for an abnormal pap smear.

  • LEEP (Loop electrosurgical excision procedure): A procedure used to remove a portion of the cervix using a thin wire loop. Usually used as treatment for pre-cancerous disorders of the cervix. This procedure can be done either in the office under local anesthesia or at the outpatient surgery center utilizing an anesthesiologist. Your doctor will make recommendations on the best location for you.

  • Cryotherapy: Freezing of the cervix to treat pre-cancerous disorders of the cervix.
