HOSPITAL SURGICAL PROCEDURES
Procedures that typically require a period of observation are completed at the hospital. These include those procedures for hysterectomy and removal of fibroids. At Center for Women’s Health, we are pleased to offer the latest advances for minimally invasive surgery for our patients. This allows less recovery time, less pain, and a quicker return to normal activities.
Da Vinci Robotic Hysterectomy involves removal of the uterus with or without tubes and ovaries using the laparoscope and Da Vinci robot. In most cases, patients are discharged within 24 hours of the procedure.
Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy involves removal of the uterus with or without tubes and ovaries using the laparoscope. In most cases, patients are discharged within 24 hours of the procedure.
Vaginal Hysterectomy involves removal of the uterus with or without tubes and ovaries through the vagina without incisions on the abdomen.
Abdominal Hysterectomy involves removal of the uterus with or without tubes and ovaries through incision on the lower abdomen. Usually requires two to three nights in hospital. This method for hysterectomy is typically chosen for those patients who have an enlarged uterus which is not able to completed laparoscopically or if other pathology is present.
Pelvic relaxation repair is correction of relaxation of uterus and/or vaginal tissues usually done vaginally.
Abdominal myomectomy involves removal of myomas or fibroids from the uterus through an incision in the abdomen. Myomectomy is typically reserved for those patients who plan children in the future.
